    Austin, Texas

    Hi guys,

is there anybody, who knows something about Austin, Texas? Is it true, that there is a lot of live music to hear? Our plans for next year are to make a music trip to New Orleans, Memphis, Nashville and perhaps Austin, if it is worth.

Thanks a lot for your answers.

Have a good time, heartly greetings from Germany

    Re: Austin, Texas

Austin is sometimes called the "Nashville of the West".  Some years ago Willy Nelson and Waylon Jennings became disenchanted with the commercialism of Nashville and the control that the big international recording studios asserted over country music.  They founded a music recording industry in Austin Texas that featured western music rather than country music.  Soon, many independant musicians gravitated to Austin.  It became a small independant center for western music, and eventually for all types of music.

Today, Austin has a lively music scene with many clubs and bars featuring all types of music.  It is a good place to hear many musicians and bands that have not yet become famous.
