    Luggage Tips

If you read our Holiday Travel Tips you already know the day after Thanksgiving is the most popular day of the year for great shopping bargains. Here are a few packing tips for getting your great deals home while traveling.
    • Before leaving for your trip ensure your luggage is in decent shape (zippers, wheels, handles). There is nothing more inconvenient than having a wheel or handle fall off while trying to make your flight (ask my husband).
    • 2 in 1. Put your smaller suitcase in a larger case on the way to your destination. When you are ready to return home you have an extra suitcase ready to be filled. You don't need an entire suitcase? Pack a collapsible bag or soft duffle bag.
    • Watch the weight of your suitcase. The airlines have luggage weight limits and charge quite a bit if you go over that number.
    • Pack breakables with bubble wrap or even better, carry them on.
    • If you plan to ship your items home, keep in mind that if the box is too heavy shipping can get very expensive and may not be worth the savings from the sales.
    • I have met several travelers lately who leave their old clothes behind to make room for the new. It is pretty easy to find a donation center or drop off bin here in the U.S. You can do the same thing for books and magazines you have finished.

    Have fun shopping!
