am taking a trip in Georgia end of october all the way from spain with my elderly parents.  we will stay in savannah a few days then rent a car to make our way back to Atlanta.  we will have the car 7-8 days. I would like advice on which direction to go..  going towards south carolina, down to florida or just stay within Georgia..???  any tips would be very much appreciated!!!

The weather should be nice in October.  The days should be warm and the nights a bit cool.  If you want to go swimming, go south to Florida with the many beautiful beaches.  In Orlando, you can go to Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World and many other amusements.  You can stop at the NASA aerospace center. If you like to golf, Myrtle Beach North Carolina has many nice golf courses.  The Smokey Mountains in the western part of North and South Carolina will be very nice in October, but a bit colder.

i would rather not go to florida.....  so looks like the smoky mountains may be the best desicion.  if you have any further tips on things to do, see etc. routes from savannah that would be great.  autumn is nice i belive end of oct start of november then?

The weather should be nice through November.  Days are typically sunny and warm. Nights are cool to chilly.  It is possible that you might see a bit of snow at the higher elevations, but that usually comes later in the winter.  The leaves on the trees of the mountainsides should be changing colors by the end of October.  Autumn is usually a very pictureque season.

Savannah is a pretty town, but I am not familiar with the best scenic roads in that area.
